Now put the breastcollar over the horse's head with the wide part of the collar up (F).
(G) shows the breastcollar just after being placed over the horse's head.
Turn the collar so that the carrier strap is up and the collar is around the horse's chest (H).
If you have a loop to tie the carrier strap back to the check turret, hook it now (I).

This loop is something that is primarily used at breed shows. It makes the carrier strap follow the slope of the horse's shoulder and makes it more attractive. Without the loop, the carrier strap tends to fall in the groove between the neck and withers and can make the neck look short.

(J) shows the breastcollar in the correct place.

(K) shows the breastcollar too high on the horse's chest. It can cut off the breathing if placed too high.

(L) shows the breastcollar too low. It can fall below the point of the horse's shoulder and make it harder for the horse to pull.
