| A different way of attaching the breeching is coming into use. In case of an accident where strain is put on the breeching it can be difficult to unbuckle the strap. This new way of attaching the breeching keeps strain off the buckle so it can be freed. |

Bring the breeching strap under the trace and shaft (1 & 2). Bring it towards you and in front of the footman's loop (3). |

Wrap it around the shaft but not the trace IN FRONT of the footman's loop (4). Wrap it as many times as necessary to take up any slack. Once or twice is normal. Put the strap through the footman's loop towards the horse (5). |
| Buckle it over the trace (6 & 7). It has a nice appearance when complete (8). |
